BIRD HOUSES
The American Kestrel is the smallest and most common of our falcons. Kestrels
may be attracted to birdhouses, as they do not excavate their own holes and
large woodpecker holes are hard to find.
American Kestrels are found throughout the United States and Canada.
They prefer open urban or cultivated areas containing scattered trees or other
high perches, such as utility lines. The habitat of the American Kestrel is
varied, including forest edges, orchards, pastures and deserts.
